Senior-Housing . Westminster Place at Parkesburg

Westminster Place at Parkesburg revitalized an abandoned brown-field property within the historic town center of Parkesburg and established an environmentally sensitive building which houses seventy two independent senior living apartments. The new facility provides numerous amenities including a fitness room, a large community room with a commercial kitchen, a health screening room, a computer café, a lending library, and a two story atrium lobby for social gatherings. With public funding from Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and the Chester County Department of Community Development, the project provided five different affordable apartment types ranging from one bedroom apartments with and without dens and two bedroom apartments. Each apartment type meets the specific accessibility and functional needs of seniors. In addition to providing the community with much needed affordable senior housing and related amenities, the project also contributes to the community’s revitalization efforts by providing street-front commercial space along Parkesburg’s main street. This ambitious mixed-use project encourages an intermingling of senior residents with the greater community.
